Could try swapping wheels front to rear incase of a slight tyre distortion.

Had the same recently so I took it down to my mate who manages a Kwikfit depot, took the wheels off to balance them, they were okay but he showed me something that shocked me.......

my wheels are TSW reflex 17" with 215/40/17 good rubber with 5/6mm tread to play with but once wheels were on balancing machine he showed me the flat spots on the rims. Aparently alloy wheels shod with anything low profile will develop flat spots from hitting potholes etc..at speed, thus causing the rim to flatten at that particular point of impact, doesn't matter what alloy wheel it is, if you've got alloys ( especially OE alloys ) and low profile ( which most of us have) you'll develop flatspots. They will according to him, eventually round out!

Perhaps that's the problem and seeing as how crap UK roads are, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we've all got 'em.

Now watch someone reply with one of those "load of bollox" replies.

Hope this helps.

Skoosh.

Cheers.
Have swapped wheels front to back and has made no difference. begining to think something more serious than tyres and wheels.

Mabe worth lifting the front end and checking for play in the hubs, Wheel bearings, bottom ball joints, track rod ends, damaged drive shaft, a build up of corrosion between disc and wheel etc.
Do you feel a judder through the brake pedal as well? if so check discs.

I had the same as Skoosh. 17" bugeye wheels on a classic, I have 2 out of 4 rims with slight flat spots - nothing can be done other than buy new wheels or put up with it.

Other things it could be, a cv problem or even a bend of the half shafts, or could be a simple as dirt or similar around the cv's or on the half shafts.
