Cool

Afternoon! and what a glorious afternoon it is.

For an MY93

Have just picked up and fitted the above! They came from a JDM car imported recently, however the guy did not want these on the car.
It comes with a standard JDM tune, which I would imagine has been set up from a laptop? Guessing!!
My set up is standard engine and turbo, with full decat blitz exhuast and HKS induction kit. With the standard ECU this gave a peak boost of 1.01 bar.
The power FC seems to have 4 settings for air intake.
GC8 Normal
Super Intake ( I think that is what it says )
80 dia intake ( which has a suffix code after it )
90 dia intake ( with the same code as above ( I think ))

It also has a 5th setting after these which is I think a set it up yourself option ( may be wrong )

The problem is I have not got a manual with it, and the download from the Apexi site is only for the fitting of the ECU not the programming or users manual.

First question, with my intake what would be the best setting to use.
Second question, would anyone with one of these be kind enough to copy me the users manual.
Third question, who ( other that RC developments ) can set these things up, as I think the ignition map is a little advanced for our fuel, even optimax + booster.

Ohh ****! loads of questions, better stop there for the moment.

What is it like ?

Well only done 20 miles so far, much smoother through midrange, with a quicker turbo spool up, peak boost is now 1.05 bar. Idle is so smooth it has made the exhaust note quiet!!
So far I'm happy, but don't want to push it until I have sorted the mapping.

Sorry for the ramble

Cheers

Ivan

You need it on the second option "super intake" If you are getting knock now quick fix is it adjust the entire map to knock a couple of degree's off. Settings, Ign/Inj, then retard the Ign side (that is off the top of my head but I think it's right). Too much stuff to go into detail on here, email rod@rbmotorsport.co.uk or ring on 01704 822848 tomorrow.

second thoughts, try Abbey motorsports they are a LOT closer than we are!! You will have more success in the skyline tuners/forums as this is a very popular ecu with them.

Sorry guys, have been to France today and missed out on the replies until now!
Have not had dealings with RC Developments, so cannot judge on their work. The only reason I said that was because I know they can map Apexi stuff as they sell it, so I was looking for other options, besides they are 400 odd miles away from me and was hoping for something nearer home.
Alanjack, whos mapping is it?????? No idea mate.
Cord...thanks for that will call them tomorrow.
Someone suggested Power station... they are doing my bump steer next week so could kill two birds...etc.
Whilst playing....sorry analising the data!? yesterday evening I managed to find an actual 'knock' value somewhere?? Buggered if I can find it again! Any Ideas? Or was it a dream?
As for the knock reading, the bar ( which is how it is shown on the display ) only went along about 5mm so am I panicking a bit. Because at 10.30 ish last night when I had a quick run it was hardly moving ( cold air and all that ).

Any road up! Thanks a lot guys will get busy tomorrow and let you all know.
Next questions will be on the blitz twin solonoid boost controller which is half fitted! So revision is suggested!

Cheers

Ive

go in to monitor, go to display 1 (top one) then press next until you get a heart monitor style display with 15 secs of display. it goes between 0 and 100, back ground noise is up to about 25.
what you are looking for is sharp peaks(knock!!!).

hope this helps

Also if you go into the ETC. menu there is an option to make your check engine light flash when you are getting knock. Background noise is in the region of 20-25 and the check engine light will flash if you achieve 45.

Also when you are in monitor watching Knock (or any other level come to think of it) you can press one of the arrow buttons (sorry can't remember which one so you will have to try) And it will add another box that contains a tell tale showing your highest reading. And in the knock mode it will display it as a number as opposed to the graph/bar that is usual shows. Pressing another of the arrows re-sets to zero and another removes it.

OK seconds out round 2!

Found the knock graph as you said, it mostly runs around the 15 to 20 mark, however when pushed it does peak, not enough to light the 'check engine' light but looking at the graph it was up there at 45 ish. As you may of gathered I also turned on the 'check engine light warning function', although it only gave a japanese character! so it was guesswork.
Spoke to a couple of people today ( Power station and power engineering ) who do not know how to remap these ECU's, so will have to travel further afield, unless someone can talk me through it on the phone???!!! Got no problem with going to RC developments, onl problem is 400mile each way trip!

Cheers
