scooby not behaving itself at the moment, can anyone identify the problem from these symptoms?

1. steering not as precise as normal.
2. car veers to left when you let go of steering wheel and even more so under braking.
3. power steering not as light as usual.

been told its probably crap on the front left brake pads. I've noticed no difference in the power steering, but someone who drives my car occasionally has noticed this.

getting the pads checked out tonight, but if anyone can think of other possibilities / remedies, then I'd be interested to hear them.

One tyre has gone down a bit?

Never hurts to check the tyre pressures regularly anyway...

If you've ruled out the tyre pressures, the next thing to check would be the tracking/alignment.

Same tyres on all the wheels ?
Different makes / type of tyres on the same axle will cause veering / pulling.
After that alignment / tracking.

Bridgestone potenza's all round - although a set of goodyears about to be appearing on the back, and on the front a month after that.

It'd be better to wait the month and put all four tyres on together. Putting a brand new set on the back while keeping worn ones on the front will give you a rolling radius disparity big enough to muck up the handling - as well as stressing out the centre diff.

If you're getting the tyres changed, get the tracking checked at the same time and everything should be peachy

Certain directional tyres are particularly bad for this as they start to wear.

Wheel bearing on it's way out can also cause this.

Plus everything previously mentioned.

Messiah

Its almost certainly the front near side wheel bearing.

Do you also get an inconsistent bite point on the brake pedal?

the brakes work fine, the car just pulls slightly to the left, and seems worse under braking but this is probably down to the car going slower making it seem worse than it is. I'm fairly sure it's the tracking / alignment really - but will get the parts you've mentioned checked out anyway.

I was just curious becuase where I live I travel a lot on very bumpy roads to get to an "A" road, so it was just making me think that the road feels quite rough on the car and so something has worked loose a bit or has developed too much "play".

Read a few threads on here relating to tyre pressures, and don't think me or the car could stand anything higher than the current 33 psi all round.
