AT the start of 2 fast 2 furious (which is **** by the way), a bloke turns up revving a silver and blue Skyline and you can hear the dump valve 'fluttering', not doing the usual psssshhhttt type noise. i.e, the pssshhhttt noise on a normal d/v lasts maybe half a second or so but this dump valve seemed to take about 4 or 5secs to fully dump. Its like the wastegate chatter on a WRC car but takes alot longer. Hope all that drivel makes sense.

Does anyone know what type of dump valve does this?

Also know that someone at the Northern Big One had a dump valve that did the same.

Question

Abbylad,

Question for you - you mention wastegate chatter on WRC cars - is that the high-pitched noise you hear when they are [rapidly] slowing down? If so, I've wondered for years what that noise was!!!

a lot of the whining noise heard when they slow down is from the straight cut gears in the gear box. like the old quaifes on the cossies

You can't rely on any of the noises in Hollywood films being accurate, as virtually none of the finished soundtrack will be recorded "live".

The sound engineers for 2F2F will no doubt have had a vast libary of assorted chirrups, pssshts and roars, all triggered at the push of a button. Odds are that the sounds you heard didn't belong to the Skyline in question at all

was just using 2f2f as a reference as more people will have seen and heard it thru this film, i DO know for definate that there was someone at the NBO whose scoob made the exact same sound though, but the chances of him/her reading this thread are fairly slim..........please feel free to 'own up' and tell me what you`ve got whoever it is

Cheers

Finding someone who admits to having seen the film will be hard enough, let alone finding someone whose car sounds 2F2F
