What Performance Increase would a scooby sport backbox give, insurance company wants to know the % increase. I said 10% but a mate said more like 5%.

Question

You "may" free up around 7-10bhp, id say go with the 10% as they dont normally rate under this ammount.

Personally I wouldn't say more than 2 or 3 bhp at best. I noticed the noise more than anything. The main cat is the biggest limiting factor of the exhaust system.

yeah thats what I heard about the cat Sith, what would you suggest I say to Tesco,

a, not mention it
b, say the performance increase is v.small
c, it's between 5-10%

I only really want the backbox for the noise and not for performance.

I would tell them it is a negligable increase.

The power of the car will vary depending on Hot / Cold days, this is far more noticeable than the back box.

But tell them it is going on. They can void the Ins in a claim if it is on at point of inspection and it isn't declared.

I believe that the scoobysport back box gives about an extra 7bhp.
That would only be 3.5%.
It is only the main cat and to a lesser extent the second cat that
really increase the bhp.
I think a full scoobysport system will give about 30bhp.
Bear in mind that a 10% increase would be about 21bhp

By the way. I have a scoobysport back box and centre de-cat

yeah I told em I had fitted the scooby sport backbox and they asked what the performance increase was, said 0% it just makes a nice noise , no increase . Phoned up a day before and said it gave 10% increase and the the increase in insurance was 250 quid , like the bloke said, robbing bast**ds. I pay 1700 as it is with 100 quid plus for the tracker, they never seem to give u a break.
