Knackered Wheel bearings can cause disc failure, they heat up and cause the discs to warp.

Question

Stupid question really as its very basic but are you bedding your brakes in from new or just ragging them?

Tony

ps it could be the pads rather than the discs and dont keep your foot on the brake pedal whilst stopped as this transfers heat into the disc and can cause warping

PPPMat,
You first mension discs then you go on to say pads, which is it or has the dealer replace both the discs and pads.

The dealer has replaced just the discs. I bought the car second hand, and for me this is the second new set of discs in 6000 miles. I always bed the brakes in and I'm by no means hard on my brakes. The pads have not been replaced.

The car records show that the previous owner also encountered this problem and had a new set of discs replaced, so this will be the 4th set on the car. It can't be coincidence that all 4 have been faulty can it? There must be something causing the discs to warp or some other problem.

My dealer is concerned and is having the car all day tomorrow to try and sort it out. It's just annoying having to take it back every 2 months and driving around for the majority of the time with juderring brakes.

Matt

Hmm, should really insist on them changing pads and discs.

My discs/pads have done over 40,000 trouble free miles in 12 months, I know a few people with Sti7/8's and none have had any brake problems either, so not sure it is that common.

Perhaps a duff batch of pads ?

No, its WR blue. Car in dealers all day today - they are in their own words 'stripping it down' whatever that means to try and find the cause. I will post the outcome.

Thanks

New discs should always be used with NEW pads!
