Can anyone point in the direction of a cheapish source of lambda sensors for an early wrx. I don't want to start mucking around with "universal" ones and have to cut up the wiring loom so a genuine one would be best. Can anyone let me have the part number as well?

Sorry mate i had to go the 'universal route' aswell

Bit of a pain if your sensor is the smaller version, not so bad if it's the larger one

It should be a Bosch part since they make 90% of all O2 sensors. If you could find out the Bosch part#, then you could order it from any Bosch dealer in the UK.

That's what I did for a Bosch knock sensor and it was half the price of the 'performance specialists'.

I knew you lot would respond eventually. Mark - I'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Does anyone know the bosch part number?

I really don't fancy using a "universal" one as I have heard mixed reports about them, some even failing after a few months

As promised..... http://www.cats-direct.com/oxygen_sensors.htm

Three wire lambda is the one you want.It takes a bit of soldiering but nothing too complicated.

Mark - how long have you had it on for? I was a bit sceptical about using 3rd party ones as some seem to die prematurely. I presume Bosch make the OEM one for subaru, hence trying to get it direct from them. Graham Goode website states it is £289

Its been on for about a month, but don't use the car much, other people have had them on much longer.
The bosch sensor would have to stay on 10-20 years longer to justify that price.
Its your choice but Andy F recommend non OEM and if he's using them on his 440bhp RA it's got to be a good endorsement.

I'll definately bear that in mind as I'll never pay that much for one. I'd rather change it every 6 months

Had a universal on my 96 WRX since october last year.
It's a bosch universal, very easy to fit, cost £30+vat from my local motorfactors

It's not just Subaru's that these things are expensive on. My Dad's Vectra needs a new MAF (and/or possibly O2 sensor).

£141+VAT for the MAF
£108+VAT for the O2

Some bloke was in buying a new MAF for his Corsa when I picked the car up and you should have seen the look on his face when the parts guy told him the price.

Likewise, they're Bosch parts so I guess the Dealer/Manufacturers are on the make (as per usual with OE parts)

The part number on mine(MY94 STI) is:- Bosch Lic A24-641209 43319. Its a 3 wire, black/red/white.

If I had seen your post earlier I would have been less useless
