Lambda sensor's

Does anyone know what size drill bit and tap it takes to drill a hole for one of these as my garage is doing it tomorrow and I don't want those **** wits to struggle to get it to the right size then seal it in with super glue and chewing gum when they get bored. Does anyone know if this sort of information can be found in a haynes manual ?

The ECU uses the lambda sensor to control closed loop fueling, while it is true that this is all part of the emissions control system your car will run better with the sensor fitted and connected to the ECU.

I basically got a full exhaust system with the hole for the lambda sensor welded up. Since my local garage is also a metal work specialist I decided to let them fit the exhaust and drill the hole for the lamda sensor but sice they rung up sugesting I diddn't need a lambda sensor I am now scared they they will **** it up and blow my car up but since they have had the car since 10 o' clock all I can do is sit here and panic until it comes back.

Just had my decat downpipe and centre done and all seemed good until I stopped on the way home and smoke started to come out of the bonnet scoop. Drove home and once again while stopped on the drive way smoke out of the bonnet scoop lifted it up and there appeared to be lots of white smoke coming out of the heatshiled for the turbo it diddn't smell of anything and diddn't seem that hot ?

Did the car sound normal? If something's leaking, it would sound like a tractor.
So it's something melting or burning.
Is there a coating on there? Do you think they use an interesting sort of smoking gasket?
Odd that it doesn't smell! Not very helpful either... couldn't have been steam, could it?

I thaught that so put my hand in it to see if it was wet it wasn't but it was very cool all the same. Went out later that night to drive through a few tunnels and there was no smoke at all so might have just been somthing to do it being a new set of pipes.

I only asked because, if the DP is lagged then it will smoke for a while when new, and, if the original turbo heatshield is replaced smoke can appear to be coming out of the turbo and make you think holy **** what have not connected...
Problem is made worse when you use synthetic rubber/chrysotile asbestos gaskets which which make you think that you're melting pipes!

They did but struggled to find the right tap and had to order it in specially which I'm sure I will notice on the bill
I did insist on checking the sensor was in properly and it seems rock solid. Just an induction kit intercooler spray gauges and knock link to go before I can stop spending money.

With a bit of luck the smoke will fade away, exhausts always do that when they have been off and on again, and it seems to be pretty noticeable on a Scoob. Mine was like that after a clutch change. Maybe they used some copper slip or grease on the nuts and studs on the exhaust for reassembly. If they charge you for the tap, claim possession of it!
