read this thread the other day and thought I'd better check it out on my car - MY00
Ok so mines a bit low, where do I top it up (probably an obvious answer coming my way soon) and any recommendations for which oil to use?

You fill it down the dipstick hole. Use a short bit of new garden hose and its easy. My dealer recomended shell 80 90 gear oil.Beware that the oil level seems to be affected by the car being on a slope. Just 2 parking spaces over in our visually flat car park can make the oil level look either too high or too low.

Fill a soup bowl with your chosen oil, remove the dipstick and just throw the oil in the general direction A little bit will go down the tube, the rest will go all over ya engine bay and onto your drive.
That's what it always looks like i've done whenever i top up
Mikey (I'm only kidding, just leaves a funny picture in my mind, bloke throwing a bowl of oil into his engine bay !! )

If you want to achieve the same effect, simply remove the dipstick and leave it in the house.
Over time, rainwater will find its way through the hole and sink to the bottom of the gearbox. Thus, when you do replace the gearstick and check the level, it will appear to be fine.
...Oh, if you have I/C water spray, regularly pressing the manual button will assist this process
