10 Psi on full boost
#1
Hi
I have a MY 97 UK Wagon with Blitz induction kit and full HKs de-cat exhaust system plus D/V. On WOT my boost gauge reads 10psi and holds it there to the redline. My ECU is standard I think I should be producing 0.9bar as standard on a TD04 which is 13PSI..what could be causing my boost to stay at 10psi and going any higher?
Any advice welcome (I'm a newbee)
Regards
Ray

well, 10 is a little bit short . depending on how accurate your boost gauge is (they usualy arent!) you could just be running on actuator pressure (~7psi / ~0.5bar). This can happen when it goes into limp home mode, but as your going to the redline I susspect that's not it.
could be plumming. I'd check that all your pipes from the turbo to the control solenoid (o/side suspension turret) and back to the wastegate are all ok / connected & not blocked.
then check that the solenoid is ticking/working & clean it.
try Ravensblade's site for info on that (I think it's on there - or try search on here with something like SOLENOID). they can get clogged with oil if the engine is slightly overfull, or the breather is chucking a bit too much oil about.
cheers
