Now I know you boys are gonna say why am I worried - believe me cost is not the option here but I've just been reading a few threads and it's got me thinking. I have a standard MY01 that has only been run on OPTIMAX from day one. Average fuel consumption 14-18 mph depending on throttle abuse

Is this good, bad or ugly ? and what should I be looking at if it's bad please ?

Cheers

I presume you mean mpg not mph, i would say that figure is ugly!!! If it is a standard uk wrx then i would guess that to be bad unless you really are racing everywhere. I have a uk MY99 with a couple of engine mods and am getting 25-27mpg just knocking about and putting my foot down occasionaly!!

Yep, of course its mpg - whoops - I thought it was a bit on the low side - It's a standard UK WRX doesn't get thrashed that often but on a Motorway the right foot tends to get heavy. I've done less than 15K and only had one service. Trouble is I'm really not a techie so anything advanced would require a garage I was thinking anywhere in excess of 20mpg would be about right.

Any tips/suggestions appreciated - other than that the next service is 3-4000 miles away and the dealers can look at it then.

Hi Sonic, i would agree with you, i get 30ish on the motorways. As for the problem im not sure, maybe over fueling???? Try contacting Subaru UK direct on 01215222000, ask for technical department, they were very helpful with a recent problem I had( alot better than the dealerships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Hope they can sort it!
