1) find someone with DeltaDash to do it
or
2) rip up the passenger carpet, take off protective plate, locate ecu and disconnect the plugs on it and leave these unplugged...

Have a standard fit MY99 remote locking alarm. Tried to do an ECU reset by the battery method but as soon as I disconnected the battery the alarm either went off, or emitted an itermittent 'pip' every couple of seconds. After 2 minutes the local neighbourhood watch were out in force!

Somehow I don't think I'll get away with this overnight - I'll be sent to Coventry (not there's anything wrong with Coventry).

I tried disarming the alarm via the keyfob before disconnecting, but that didn't help. Oh, and I lost the PIN to disable the alarm completely.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve

p.s. am reluctant to try the connector method as I'm a bit of a disaster area when it comes to electronics...........

Why not just do it with the plugs under the dash???
Or, find a large layby somewhere, take a picnic, and the v5, and your license, just in case plod comes along, mind you, they probably wouldn't understand what you where trying to do!
Just do it with the
instruction here http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co...._ECU_Codesugs!

The connector method is easy peasy. Just take a peek under your dash with a torch and check out the connectors. Black single pole to black single pole, and green double pole to green double pole.

If you really don't trust yourself, you could always get your local auto-electrical people to replace the connectors with a couple of switches.

your alarm should have a valet mode for when it goes in for servicing.A lot of jobs on the car require the battery to be disconnected and so most alarms have a facility to set into passive mode.
