Ive noticed when the CEL comes on you hear a clicking noise from the drivers fuse box area.

However sometimes on my Legacy I can hear this thing click/tick a couple of times, usually when the car is hot and i come to a holt then set off, it ticks as i set off!
CEl doesnt come on though.

make sense to anyone,?
Im adding new earth cables at present and this seems to have stoppeed the CEL comming on, however this ticking/clicking still happens.

I have this with my MY93 WRX.
I think it may be something to do with the cooling system/air con. Seems that there is a relay which clicks when the car is near-stationary, and the throttle is fully closed.

Remember reading somewhere that the ecu turns the aircon off when on WOT at certain intervals, cant remember why though.

Question

I think the cooling fans only come on when the car is off throttle & at low speed? Therefore think it may be this relay that you can hear clicking (obviously didn't explain too well above!)

I noticed it used to make a clicking noise (like a relay) as soon as you touched to gas pedal from idle.

I have 2x 93/94 Legacy Turbos and they both make this noise. It seems like a throttle position switch or something but havn't really looked into it.

So Magnet,

What are you doing with the backbox?

You know i'd only just got the exhaust finished 2 day before i sold it to you, that pissed me off a bit cos it sounded lush.
