is it possible to put a my98 (218-bhp) ecu into a my97(208-bph)uk impreza.Or is there a bigger bph one out there from a newer model???

MY97 and MY98 ECUs are (essentially) the same as are the engines.

The 218BHP ECU you are refering to I presume is from an MY99, won't fit an MY97 or MY98.
