Question

ive just fitted a brand new PAS pump and bottle. It worked fine for 5 mins then started to build up pressure PAS stpped working and only did work when you reved up the engine once you stopped thou fluid pours out the cap and goes everywhere. ive spent over £600 yesterday for all the parts yet it's still not working right,

can you help me as im really really stuck on this one?

have i maybe fitted it wrong?

or does it have a massive airlock, and if so how do i get rid of it?

or is the brand new pump broken already?

please help im at my wits end now

thanks Damian

I'm guessing you didn't bleed it through........

With the cap off move the steering full lock side to side to bleed the system, (many goes at this) you also need a spotter to fill up fluid. Though it will bubble away nicely while air is bleeding through. THIS TAKES TIME

Alternatively it could be the steering rack (rack) and blocked valve, though more likely to be the first...

Try what XS says above 1st, it does take ages to bleed the system and get all the air out, it's not a case of just fit and your away unfortunately. I've mailed you my number if you wanna chat some more.

Its easier on the steering linkage if you jack the front wheels up to do that procedure to bleed the system.

agree with all of above, did similar sort of thing on mine while back, they reckon at least 10 times from full lock to full lock whilst engine running, also check the rubber boots on the rack to see if they have filled with fluid, if so then the racks knackered

Its a bit of a puzzle Damo, sounds as though the pump is not sucking oil into it in the first place, maybe it needs priming with some oil with a syringe or something like that just to get it started. Once it is pumping it should push the oil round the system and it is then just a matter of bleeding it.

Hope it sorts out anyway.
