I have read the old threads on ECU reset by connecting/disconnecting wires located under steering column, but won't it reset by just disconnecting battery for an hour?

Yes I believe so, but it has a backup capacitor which takes time to drain. I don't know how long, but when I last did it, I left it overnight

Cool

guys, if you disconnect your battery, turn on yhe ignition, stamp on the brake pedal about 5-6 times this will bleed the capacitor.

resetting the ecu only improves the car if you've had bad fuel or a problem. the ecu retards the timing to prevent detonation.
