Does anyone know where to pick up an RPM signal at the ECU (MY97/98)? I've been told tapping into one of the injector wires will do the trick but I'm not too keen on that idea in case a fault in the wiring or device causes it to go lean etc. I assume the device (alarm system) uses a high impedance input so as not to affect the injector signal.

Any advice on this - an output not directly related to the engine would be preferable (e.g. is there a wire for the revcounter?).

Cheers.

There is a wire for the RPM on the MY97/98. I'm told that the easiest place to find it is behind the dash clocks - it's cunningly labeled RPM there...

Thanks Andrew... will have a go at that tomorrow assuming I ain't too hung-over . I'd have gone for the dash as a last resort but connecting at the ECU is definitely easier.

BTW Is there a colour quoted on your reference just so I can double-check? I assume it's PWM or just pulses per rev so can't verify by probing the wire as I don't have a scope.

Cheers.

It's just a pulse, DVM won't be much use, IIRC it a blue wire.
