MY03 slight engine noise...?

Have noticed that my MY03 WRX on acceleration, at between 3-4000 revs, there is a noise that sounds like something flapping or a blowing exhaust? Not a major noise and goes away when past 4000 revs.
Any ideas? is this normal?
