Question

I would like to know what result/reading should i be getting from the compression test gauge dial so that i can estabilish the condition of my engine. I think the gauge i have reads in bars & also has a red/green colour code stating bad/good.
From the very first stroke should the gauge go straight into the green section/good?
What if it takes 2 or 3 strokes before the needle goes into the green. A friend done the test for me and said my compression was good, but it was a while ago & i cant remember whether it showed good from the 1st stoke or the 2nd. So I will do a re-test on the weekend.

Its more normal to crank over for say 10 revs each cylinder to take compression. Do it with all the plugs removed and also disconnect the crank position sensor as well to stop it injecting fuel.

On all the cars I've ever done it on, I've always held the throttle wide open aswell, it lets it breath as much as it wants to!
