Alanjack - who are you with, L+V?

Failing that, we're moving to Australia!

Moderators - could you leave this here awhile, before bouncing to the Insurance section, thanks.

What insurance companies are people using who have uprated their engines, e.g. FMIC, hybrid turbos, uprated injectors, fuel pump, etc.

Elephant won't touch me (despite the fact they were happy with a Haywood & Scott exhaust) and Tesco's have gone over my mental barrier of £2,000 pa.

Am I realistically gonna get all these mods and keep insurance below this point (yes I want fully comp, I have 9yrs NCB, tracker).

What companies are people using who have these types of mods done?

Thanks.

Try Greenlight Insurance - 01277 263030

They insure me with all the above mods.

OK, if you can find out on here what my mods are, you may say they are reasonable;, i had the mega dilema this year, but ended up going with Liv Vic, but forced them to record the modifications.

As of 1st April this year, they dont car about modifications

Shocked me when they said it, but after god knows how long of me saying "really", i eventually gave in.

I was looking at circa £2k, but they wanted circa £850

That's amazing. Really?

I've just tried Norich Union (Direct), who said we won't take you with the mods, but try Hillhouse Hammond(spell?), who promptly said the same.

Tried Greenlight, but because its jap import said no. Interestingly the chap said the jap imports are costing too much to repair and in 2 years time it'll be virtually impossible to find a "reasonable" insurance quote for a jap import. Food for thought!

Anyhow, I may end up going to L+V. I tried them a few months ago but decline me as my parter is under 30. So, my options are get the mods (and go with L+V) or ditch my fiance, but given we're getting married in July it looks as though the mods might have to lose.

My car has all the mods you list and more, we are talking in excess of £10k on mods alone. I am 27, wife is 27, full protected no claims since i passed my test, which was 3 weeks after my 17th birthday, i wrote my last scoob off in Feb 02 at a cost to insurance company of circa £18k

Circa £850 is what i paid with Liv Vic on the 1st may for 1 years cover, fully protected no claims, etc, etc.

My wife was on the my policy before we got married, when i rang to change her name after we got married, the ins co knocked £100 off the annual premium of £890, and that was on a mildly modified MY99 turbo way back in June 2000.

Shucks, that means it is my wedding anniversary on Tuesday

Yep - just call L+V (didn't mention the missues to-be). Quote for an STiv6 4dr £922.

They truly don't care about mods, no matter what mods. They also didn't care about alarms/ trackers, annual milage, where the car is kept overnight, points on license (except any disqualifications). Amazing.

Just called L+V back to say "so when I'm married we'd like to put my wife on the policy" ... they said no because of the type of vehicle and the fact she is under 30.

She said something about having revamped their policies back in April.

Drat!

Simillar mods to you Steven, but I have a CDB and the associated bits that go in it. Not entirely sure as to how that effects the policy though.

I have to ring them next week to see how an additional 500cc will effect it - which should be interesting

MYUK98 has the following modifactions: Apexi Power Fc, HKS FMIC HKS hiper muffler, STi 4 engine, Apexi AVC-R, Cusco strut brace, OZ prodrive WRC 18 wheels, AP6 pots
My girlfriend is main policy holder 33 I am 31, extra cost on my premium was £21 for the FMIC
My premium is high at the minute due to an "incident", but should come down to a reasonable £900 or so.

Cool

Just got a quote from Liverpool Victoria & they're competitive compared with my current Privilege quote. This whole "we don't ask you about mods" thing worries me a little. Has anyone with mods ever claimed on their policy ? It strikes me that if the mods aren't written into the policy they could leave you high and dry !

I was put off going further with mods because of Privilege's sliding premium scale approach. With this policy I can see it's going to be open season

Andy.
