I remember some discussion some time ago about retaining the OE pressure warning switch when fitting an oil pressure gauge by the cunning use of a T piece. Where can they be obtained from (at a sensible price!)
I also wondered if this made it easier to fit the rather large Autometer sender under the altenator?
I'm already using the number 3 plug for oil temperature. What is to stop me using a T piece there, and having both senders nicely co-located?

Not sure if I'm right on this butI thought the reason for using the same location for an oil pressure gauge (sender)as that used for the oil low pressure switch would be because Subaru positioned it there for best pressure reading. Just a theory!

I wondered about that too Paul.
However, since it's only a pressure switch, designed to switch on a light at something like 10 PSI. I wondered whether accuracy would have been a high requirement - just somewhere easy to get a reading.
Surely an "under reading" situation would be safest for Subaru, so this may or may not be the best location.
I'm just curious about where to put the senders for best tradeoffs.

I'm not sure why you'd want to do this. The OE Scoob oil pressure switch operates at 10psi, and Scoobs idle at 30psi, so by the time the switch triggered, it's probably too late. If you've an oil pressure gauge, however.......especially if it has a user set warning like the Defi ones?

If the gauge had a low pressure warning, I would use it. I have an autometer gauge that doesn't...
I just wanted to try to retain all the OEM bits that I could. I suppose the warning light does become a bit surplus to requirements...
I suppose I could use the old pressure switch to control IC water spray! 10 PSI would be about right there
