I am thinking of buying some gauges and gauge pod 4 my car-its an 01 impreza and i will be buying a pod+a boost gauge,oil temp and oil pressure gauge-garage wants circa £100 to fit em-but what i wanna know is it an easy job to do myself as long as u have basic knowledge and tools and also r electrical or mechanical ones easier to fit -thank u for a quick reply-or is £100 a good price

I fitted mine myself following Nick's (chiark) web page instructions. Was very straight forward and worth saving you the 100 quid doing it yourself.

I had elec oil pressure and elec oil temp and mech boost.

Depends what oyu want from your gauges........I bought Defi, and they were really easy to fit. Scoobymania do them, and an excellent 3 gauge pod, at a good price, look on their website.
Yes, they were fairly easy to fit. Took me about a day.
The worst was probably the oil temperature sender: it fits in place of a blanking plug on top of cylinder No3, and the plug is a swine to get out. You need to remove the intercooler, (Not difficult, but harder to get back......just take your time,), and buy the longest 8mm Allen key you can get........mine was £7 from a tool specialist, and well worth it. Standard Allen keys just won't do it, they don't reach, and you can't get the leverage.
Follow instructions on Chiark's site, and also visit the Defi European site for their instructions in English, should you decide to put the £100 towards some of the best gauges I've ever seen.
The beauty of Defis is that even the boost gauge is electrical, it has a little item that changes the vacuum signal to an electrical one, and that is sited under the bonnet, so only wires to the control unit, then ONE wire to the gauges, and link each gauge to it's partner via a provided wire link, all with teeny plugs on them. That one wire then operates, lights, and does about 3 other things on all gauges. Dead easy, and the Scoobymania pod looks good, is easy to fit, and does the job.

I got Phantoms in mine. TSL fitted them and it took them bout 7 hours to fit them. That was oil temp, oil pressure, air/fuel mix and also to fit a turbo timer
