'Check Engine' Light
Whilst Driving the other day my 'Check Engine' light came on. Couldn't do anything about it at the time but when I used the car the next time later on that day the light went out. Or more simply, turned ignition off, turned back on and light went out.
How can I find out what my car was sulking about and what may possibly have been a warning not to go ahead and book my holiday just yet??
Cheers
Chris.

Right
Go underneath the dash on the drivers side.
There - you will find two black plugs that fit together.
Plug them and then turn on the ignition.
You will see the check light start to flash.
It will do some longer flashes and some shorter ones.
Each long one counts for 10
Each short one counts for 1.
Therefore if you get long - long - short - short = 22.

Thanks for the good advise but regretting checking now!
I got codes
31,
32,
42,
45.
Car is running fine though!!! (or so i thought) Could these be old faults as light only came up the once and haven't seen it since??

I think it would be well worth you visiting your dealer just for piece of mind.
Piece of mind is much cheaper that a new engine
With regard to the light now being out, see my recent thread

ps - let us know how you go.
