Defect MAF, what else?
I was driving on the freeway with around 140 km/hour and then my engine just totally stopped pulling. Just like it lost the ignition and the "check engine" started flashing. I checked the code and it was 23, this sould be a defect MAF. Is this what normally happens when the MAF blows? Does the engine come to a total stop? There was no problem in starting the engine again. I just could'nt understand the way it happend, should'nt the "check engine" just start flashing?
Any body got an idea of the price for the MAF?

Blew 2 MAF's in the space of 4 weeks(V5 Type R). On both occasions the engine cut out as the car registered no air entering the engine, therefore no fuel was pumped. Pretty scary having a dead car in the middle of a busy road, twice!! Only started again when the MAF was unpluged and entered "limp" mode.
Code 23 is the MAF sensor which is part number;
22794AA010 METER CP-AIR FLOW.
Cost's about £75 in the UK.
p.s Blitz filter removed and standard air box refitted afterwards with a K&N panel filter.

It's 300 GBP in Denmark cos they are trying to sell the complete unit to you. The actual sensor without the housing is now available. If you quote the part number 22794AA010 METER CP-AIR FLOW to Subaru Denmark you should be able to get it much cheaper than the whole unit. In Greece it's 90 Euros. If they refuse to sell you the sensor alone after quoting the part number, then get it from the UK.
Cheers,
