should not be any noises really, some times you get a huming noise when the belt is to tight but this should not really be a problem with the subaru as it is a auto tensioner, best to get it checked mate could be a faulty tensioner or idler, was it done at subaru or have aftermarket parts been used. hope this helps.

yeah it is almost a huming type noise & a new timing belt tensioner, bracket, idler pulley, timing belt & alternator belt was installed as when dun previously at a subaru dealer they had feked the thread up on the bolt & stuff. Taken to an aftermarket specialist which is far better & professional than the saubaru dealer! Parts were from dealer so OE as far as i no. Guna go back tomorrow see what they make of it...........

er dont ask me which belt is which as, if u hadnt noticed yet i'm a technical retard lol, but it seems it's the one that goes round the air con pulley thing which doesn't overly like the mew & tighter belt they have slacked it off as much as they felt appropriate but it still makes the same noise which is seemingly coming from the clutch type internals of the air con bits & bobs. Just guna watch this space at the minute, although they did say to call if it were to get any noisier, but if any1 has any cunning plans for this they wood b greatfully recieved.

It might be the belt bedding in on the pulleys Si, the teeth run in to the teeth on the pulleys. If it continues though, I would get the garage to check it for you just in case.
Never heard of having to go easy with a new belt, but you might want to just to be ultra safe.

Then it will most likely be as I said, the belt just running in to the pulleys, the noise should go away after a while. As Wrxrob says-cant be overtightening with the Scoob. If it persists-worth getting it checked. Might be the alternator belt too tight though-that is bad for the bearings.
