Had mine on for 12 months 16000 miles (hard) no probs 19psi egt on WOT on the motorway 925 peak, boost 2850rpm is 1.2 bar, lamda at 2500rpm is about 0.95 and at 6000rpm 0.85 ( is this right ). Im reading off a power graph from G-Force.It did 263 hp and 292ftlb at 3600rpm. Chris said that for a road car this is about the limit. Having said all this the superchip is been changed for the ECUTEK.

If i had done my homework when i got the car i wouldnt of got the superchip at all. I do use octane booster but i dont have a knock link. Looks like it is next on the shopping list. So john if i have the ECUTEK installed on my car will the EGTs come down as they run it at 1.25 bar, will it also be in my best interest to get an uprated fuel pump.My car is a MY02 WRX with a full de-cat apart from the upipe cat.

edited to add i always use optimax too

Wink

Hi,
Im thinking of getting a superchip fitted to my 94WRX will it be well worth the money, and do i have to change anything first as my motor is standard apart from a pipercross induction kit.

Thanks

yes it was turbo

cars run great thru 1-3 gears but put your little baby under pressreand push 4-5th gear and this is wher the probs start, superchips don't know the strains of the engine and when you push yours, it doent go bang but the car doent pull right then next thing your wondering why the heads are missing from the top of your spark pugs, your car seems to miss fire. then it hits you
aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh ive pushed my car with a superchip lets see if ive got 2k to fix that

A few people not having a problem does not display reliability.

Lambda 0.85 is way too lean (about 12.5:1) for a car running that boost on the standard intercooler and turbo, and explains your EGTs which are also way too high for that level of boost (mine runs similar with a FMIC and 26 PSI at 12:1 but with a FMIC and a turbo twice the flow capacity, Bob Rawle's is again similar at a little more boost and knocking on the door of 500 BHP). It is probably detting lightly as well if you get the rolling road operator to listen with det cans or fit a knocklink.

Without octane booster I have found that a lot of cars running over 17 PSI with standard ignition timing start to run into detonation problems.

They would make it richer with appropriate timing so the EGT should come down.

If your EGTs are really 900+ you are in serious danger of setting your uppipe cat on fire and releasing bits of it into your turbo. Suggest you don't drive at full throttle until this is sorted. Seriously.

You're best getting that uppipe cat removed before further tuning anyway. It could well be ruined by now anyway at those EGTs.

Thumbs up

Can i just add that the people who even supply these superchips told me not to have it done to my WRX.

If the suppliers are telling you not to do it then its probably for a very good reason!!
