VF-35 on an STI IV
#1
Hi,
I recently purchased a VF-35 to put onto my JDM STI IV. I purchased the VF-35 as it has similar low end characteristics to the VF-24, but also doesn't die out around 7000RPM. Does anyone know if I will have to re-map the ECU to work with this turbo when I put it on?
--engine is using stock sti injectors, yellow I think and stock ecu boost control.
Thanks, Greg

The VF35 has a small exhaust housing than the VF24 (P15 vs P18) so it will probably spool up a little earlier. Hopefully your ECU should catch it but you may have to look at alternative boost control if not. Also fit something to monitor for knock - using a smaller turbine housing (all other things being equal - which they are not unfortunately) results in higher exhaust back pressure especially at high RPM, the result of this is more likelihood of detonation.
