While doing some slow reversing moves today my check engine light started flashing. Turned off the engine checked for loose pipes etc. everything fine engine ran ok. Started engine no light so drove off after getting the code it was 53 Fuel Pump or circuit. When I did start it again I noticed the pump made a strange noise I was a bit low on fuel at the time...........

Do I need a new fuel pump ? I will get an uprated one if I can there was an american site that was selling them quite cheap can anyone remember the name ?

IIRC Catalunya is an MY97? Code 53 could also be a fault with the immobiliser.

Bare Walbro pumps are available from APE.

53 could be immobiliser problem aswell hmmn... I mean I do have an alarm and a Turbo timer aswell which might confuse it a little. How will I know if my fuel pump is not working will it go into limp, or stop or blow up because the mixture is too lean ?
