So far i have got the following installed....
The Main U - shape tube in the centre. Then from that the a-pillar tubes, the x-pieces by the doors, the screen bar(across top) and the large x-piece in the back (u shape up to rear struts) .....confused yet.
There are six tubes left (3 each side) and i am unsure of their positions ?????
1 long 1 medium and 1 short.
i'll try and get some pictures sorted.

Removable roll cages bolt in onto rear strut tops and rear seat belt mountings and then are cross braced to hold the main hoop behind the drivers seats, which itself has a cross bar down at floor level. So no front legs etc.. and no drilling

The Safety Devices 6 pont I have uses weld in pads for the A and B post mountings, and the C post needs drilling the body just infront of the rear top mounts. This makes the rear seat pretty useless, though my 17 year old (slim) daughter fits in behind my seat.
I hill climb the car so functionality is high on the agenda!
These cages are not that easy if you are keeping the car 'roadable'.

Here you go, lucky
This is my mate Hervé's classic, welded over this week-end
He's just telling this is his way to fit it, as Sparco is not providing any instruction neither drawing. Some plates and fitting are custom made, the whole body is welded.
If you need some more, you can also have at Vermont Sports car website : Type R body & roll cage inside

cswminty,
You've been lucky on this one !
First cause I saw your thread,
second cause I saw it right after my friend sent me the pics
Anyway, don't thank me... just thank him.
I asked him before I posted the pics, because I know what a pain in the a** it has been for him to get it sorted out.
I expect you will heard about this daily driver before 03' summer... no doubt it's gonna be a pretty fast impreza

STi M'8 - Do you have any idea of where and how much it cost him to have it fitted.
I'm getting a little scared now ive seen it go through the bulk head - may need a pro to install it.

To clear up some confusion, I think there are two types of roll cage being talked about here, although both made by Safety Devices.
The removable one, which requires no drilling or welding, fits as Fat Boy has explained very clearly. It's £4-500 from www.performancedrivers.co.uk for classics only.
I have one and it's a very clever (patented) design. My son and I can fit it in under ten minutes and remove it again in well under five. Easy peezy.
You cannot carry rear passengers but there's plenty of room for a spare set of track day wheels on the back seat, it doesn't obscure your view, provides perfect attachment points for a harness (and/or video camera) and acts as a very strong rear strut brace
Richard.

I fitted the 6 point weld/bolt/drill cage for competition use (hill climbs). It is independant of the bodyshell, belt mounts etc, so in a Big Off the cage is there independant of the shell. In the MSA Blue book, section L I think, the 'abreviated'hoop/cage is not homologated at all, thus cannot be used for racing. I should think for trackdays the bolt-in hoop is a realy good option, but not for racing?
