Hi guys, David from API Engines here. We repaint [ crackle finish] all red manifolds when we rebuild the engines because the paint is either too dirty to clean or all flaked off. There is only one colour available in the Uk for this job.
We get it from soemwhere up North. if you wait until l get the info from my office on Monday l'll post it on here and any relevant phone numbers. l seem to remember you can order it online so l'll get the web address too.
Hold tight guys. David

Hi guys, The paint is from Frost Auto Restoration Techniques, Rochdale. http://www.frost.co.uk/ I can never make the link thingy work sorry. If you want old fashioned then ring 01706 658619.
It is P111 Red wrinkle finish 310ml aerosol at £5.96 per can plus mail cost although we bought 6 cans and got a freebie thingo to keep our aerosols in [ like a spice rack but for aerosols !!] and free mail.
Good luck
PS it works best with the manifold hot so as to get a good wrinkle effect. AND I don't recommend that you try it without taking the manifold off and stripping it otherwise it will look C**P in capitals.
David
PPS I rang them today to confirm all OK and they're expecting to sell thousands of cans now so you better get on with it.

David, I take it it is not an exact match for the STi Mainfold paint? Don;t really want to go to the hassle of stripping manifold doen for a 1X2 inch flake, was hoping I could just touch it in

Ragnarock2 et al,
This paint is as good a match as l have ever found. but due to circumstances of ageing etc it may not be a perfect match for everyone on a touch up basis.
It really works best when the manifold has been stripped clean of paint, cleaned, heated and sprayed again. Valve covers look great too!!
I doubt you'll be able to achieve that on a localised basis BUT it can't look any worse than the tatty mess most are - Can it??
I accept no resonsibility for your attempts.
Good luck all David

Mine had been hand painted and looked cr*p so i stripped it of all pipes/hoses etc. and had it powder coated Lotus red crackle finish, and it now looks superb!
I don`t know how close it is to the original, BUT it does look very good, and time will tell, but I guess it will be very reluctant to peel, or fade!
IMO a very well worthwhile exercise.
Also a big thank you for David for all of his very helpfull and honest advise with my DIY engine re-build (STI V4)
