Does anyone know if its possible to get piston slap come back. I got it fixed on MY97 two months ago. I took it to a reputable Scooby place and was told problem sorted. Not cheap either. Now it seems the problem has come back (same noise) and I just can't afford to keep putting it back into the garage. Ive got the feeling they're going to want to put a short engine in which I'm pretty pissed off at as surely they should have done that from start. But then I'm kinda new to this so someone help me please!!!!!

What they did was replace piston 4 and thats about it as far as I'm aware. They said the bore hadn't being damaged and the problem would be solved.

Is that likely then? When you say usually does that mean it should have really been done when they changed piston 4. I think the garage must have pound signs in their eyes every time they see me as it's starting to turn into a very expensive job. I have tried phoning them but the person who done the job is never there!!

I can live with the noise but I'm worried about the damage it may be causing.
