Tek 2 or 3??
#1
I will soon be fitting a scoobysport down pipe,i already have a magnex b/b and non res centre fitted. I have no other mods to the engine such as MBC or filters.
My question is,if after the down pipe i then decide to go for a Tek re-map what would be the differences between a Tek 2 and a Tek 3 ?... i know the 3 is mapped specifically for the particular car but would this give any noticable improvement over a Tek 2 given the only mods to the car would be a full de cat?

I have a full decat and Tek2 on my99- Last owner had it done.
Dynoed at 275bhp/265lb. Pulls creamy smooth from tickover to max power at redline. Can't speak for Tek3, but Tek2 is great. Last owner seemed to think it *was* custom mapped for car though.

I enquired about a Tek2 at Power Engineering and they said they'd have it on the rollers for 3 hours, surely if it is just a direct swap or map download then they'd just take 10mins in the car and let you have it back?

A Tek 3 will always be better than a Tek 2 because the 3 is a custom jobbie for each individual car. No two cars are exactly the same even from factory, so even though the 2 is a great piece of kit, it is an off the shelf map to suit a group of cars. The Tek 2 map is also more on the conservative side. The 3 will get the best and most realiable, power out of each car individually.
