Unhappy

My check engine light came on Sun night.
And now my car won't accelerate above 4500rpm. Not sure of the symptoms feels like complete loss of boost as soon as it hits 4500 ( Speedo stopped working roughly the same time)

Drives perfect up to 4500rpm then just dies violently

Am just about to try and resolve the problems??

So could really do with some advice PLEASE

(1) Does the ecu take a reading from the speedo ie: no reading on clock so ecu goes into limp mode (assuming that is what is wrong)

(2) location of the two error code sensors listed below (24+33)

Have today checked Error codes and these are as follows

24-Idle control solenoid
33-speed sensor

My car is a Jap Import my94 WRX and cant get help from Subaru Dealers due to the origin

Please Please can some one offer me advice or help Truly am a scoobynetter in need...

Thanks
Mick

Have already checked speedo cable and no problems from the converter to the indtrument cluster...

Sounds like your Scoob has gone into safe mode - to stop any damage being done to the engine Shouldn't really be driven at the moment

However, how to get it fixed....hmmm.....can't offer any technical advice, but can give you the phone number of someone who should be able to help you

His name is Ivan nad he owns Forresters Subaru Spares VERY clue'd up bloke when it comes to anything Scooby related

Give him a shout on 07815850693 or 01902 494889

Tell him that Dan recommended you

Best of luck

Dan

Sometimes the gear sensor can fail.
This means that the ECU thinks the car is always in top gear and invokes the 112mph rev limit!!
Even if you have a converter box that 'frees up the rev limit' this can still be the case.
I had this problem 2 years ago and it took about 2 weeks to sort out the problem, because of the diagnostic steps involved.
Worth looking at this first to eliminate it.

I was told the sensor is down near the gearbox, but that may have just been to shut me up rather than the true answer.
Good luck in getting it fixed.

The car doesn't have a gear sensor, the ecu can only tell if it is in neutral or not.

A broken cable or convertor will put the car into limp home mode.
