Desperate Please Help!!
#1
My check engine light came on Sun night.
And now my car won't accelerate above 4500rpm. Not sure of the symptoms feels like complete loss of boost as soon as it hits 4500
Have just noticed this morning the speedo is not working too??
Drives perfect up to 4500rpm then just dies violently
Was driving sensibly i.e. not thrashing it or driving hard at the time, am at a complete loss to what’s wrong
Please can any one advise on what’s gone wrong and cure?
Have today checked Error codes and these are as follows
23
24
31
33
My car is a Jap Import my94 WRX and cant get help from Subaru Dealers due to the origin
Please Please can some one offer me hope
In hope thanks
Mick

23 - Air flow sensor
24 - Idle control solenoid
31 - throttle position sensor
34 - no idea! At a guess, you could have missed a flash.
If so, then 35 is the purge control solenoid and 44 is the waste gate control solenoid.
There's several threads about cleaning solenoids - it may help you out of some of the faults...

Sounds like something simple like your speedo cable has broken or come off. That's why no speed reading.
33 is speed sensor but I dunno what the others are without looking them up.
Check the speedo cable first coming off the gearbox.
Cheers

Advice Help
Gearbox:- cable coming out of box half way up bulk head, then a box ? mph converter? guessing
Speedo cable clips in to this and then through into cabin.
I disconected it from there and speedo head, then reconnected them both, whilst cable was off I spun the inner cable at the converter side and got a reading on the clock, assume this means cables not snapped.
Whilst doing this i reset the ecu and when i turned the ignition on after putting everthing back together.
No check engine light Brilliant
but speedo still not working am so frustrated
Please can any one offer me some ideas on what to do next other than light a match..lol
Cheers Mick

the speedo cable has probably pulled out from the back of the clocks!!!
take the clocks out and re-fit.
if you take the car over 112mph your speedo fault will come back as the car will go back to having the 112 mph restriction used in japan.
seen this fault before with a friends wrx, took us bloody ages to work out why the speedo wasn't working
