What brakes are best?
#1
Desperately needing to upgrade the brakes on my 95 turbo.I can
get my hands on a P1 setup(discs and calipers) but its a bit dear,Is this the best way to go or would I get good results from just
fitting uprated pads and grooved or drilled discs?

Colin,
There are numerous options available to you. You really need to take into account what sort of driving you intend to do on the brakes before your upgrade.
If you do trackdays (or are considering so in the future) it is definately worth upgrading the brakes.
I have owned a MY97 Turbo (with the small 2-pot front brakes - probably the same as yours) and currently own a MY00 Turbo (with the newer 4 pot brakes). Both cars always suffer from heavy fade on trackdays (even with Prodrive/Mintex Pads).
ScoobyMania (http://www.scoobymania.co.uk) offer various brake upgrades ranging from:
* replacement disks, pads, hoses, and fluid, master cylinder support bracket.
This would probably be ideal for fast road use and reasonably cost effective.
* AP Racing 4-pot kit.
Search for posts from Stef regarding the perfomance of this kit. I can only say the performance is fantastic. You may also need to take into account wheel size here. This kit requires at least 16 " wheels.
* AP Racing 6-pot kit.
Well...what can I say...like for 4 pot kit above but even better. I drove the ScoobyMania Type R on Saturday afternoon complete with 6-pots and the stopping power is just awesome. I have just got rid of my 16" track wheels and replaced them with another set of 17"s purely so I can get this brake upgrade...
Other options are
* Brembo from Scoobysport.
* The Prodrive/Alcon kit.
Hope that helps
Ian.
