on my my01 WRX PPP, now fully decated with Forge VTA, first impressions:
1.Sounds different, has more crisp sound to it, and throatier
2.Picks up very nicely, i had 3 people in the car when testing, each over 10stone, and the car felt the way it did when i had the PPP fitted and i was the only one in the car
3. performance 0-100 wow!! my son in the back timed it, and he said he left the speedo to go to 105mph then stopped it, 14.2sec with 3 ppl!!!!!!!!
4. it pops and crackles when reved and the revs are coming down from 2k rpm, but what was odd was when braking for a round about it made a huge pop. scared the hell out of me!
5. and what made my day was the Blue Evo 6 which blasted up my road as soon as he saw my car there, he put his foot down and almost lost it in first, but then my son asked me to do the same so i did, and he said that even though my wheels spun, i went up the hill far quicker than the Evo.

So to anyone waiting to fit an uppipe to your scooby bugeye do it!! definitely worth it, cant wait to put my foot down when theres less weight in the car

Pops & bangs are quite easy to achieve - mine does it with a sports cat in the downpipe, although obviously I don't get flames. And I am still on the OEM dumpvalve.

Otherwise, I agree. The up-pipe gets the turbo in much earlier, which was a lot of the difference IMHO, but certainly a well worthwhile mod. Only downside is that it tends to result in Cat inefficiency CELs on most cars - unless you spend a few quid on a CEL defender.

so how do you achieve these pops and bangs? btw i still have the resonator on mine, will this make a difference in the pops and bangs, or sound at all? Thanks

Lightbulb

Pops and bangs are usually caused by overfuelling on overrun, which scoobs are good at! Resonator will only make the pops and bangs a little quieter. Mine was popping and banging (fairly quietly, but noticeable) on overrun below 2k rpm with the OEM catted up-pipe, and an APS exhaust with sports cat downpipe and a resonator.

VTA dump valve will make overfuelling worse, giving more scope for flames etc as the engine will inject fuel for the air the valve has just let out, if you understand me.
