Was thinking about fitting a Dawes Device to up my boost, but my mechanic says I cant increase my boost alot because of the boost control valve which limits the car to 0.8 bar of boost. How is this bypassed as he reckons this could only be done by chipping (noway). My boost is 14-15 psi peak and holds about 12-13psi is this normal for 96 WRX with STI air filter,HKS de-cat downpipe and Magnex rear box?.Any advice on futher mods, with out chipping as I dont want to blow the sh¦t out off the engine.

The boost is limited to about 1.2 bar, so you could up the boost to this.
A Dawes will enable you to hold the peak boost your getting now and maybe increase it slightly. I would advise you get a Lambda and Knock Link to monitor it properly though and you should be running an import on Octane booster! I asume you already have a boost gauge
Other mods: Well you could look in to Scoobytunes
Iain.

would deffo take dyney's advice m8. i is havin a knocklink and afr fitted just to be on the safe side. if the guy reckons the car is only capable of 0.8 bar then is is either unsure (read hasnt got a clue) or is just trying to be mega mega safe. most ppls (usually ppls who dont mod thier cars) on here seem to think that the engine in the subaru is super sensitive and the slightest wee mod and the engine will blow up. give credit where credit is due, push the thing a bit. i told the boy doin my work that i wasnt lookin for mental boost but just enuf to make a slight difference. whether i get this difference in either power or torque it makes no odds to me as any increase is well worth the paltry sum i paid for the dawes device. speak to jonathan (servicing) up in mckeary moters in coleraine (actually closer to limavady). u can look at their site at performance subaru

hi m8
thats the whole point of the dawes. it bypasses the boost control so u can dial in a boost preesure upto the cut off, about 1.2 bar or there abouts if memory serves. if u is running 14 - 15 psi then u r peaking at over 1 bar m8.
