PPP on MY99 - how much, how good?
#1
I've got an MY99 5dr and am seriously looking at getting the PPP. I've got a yr or so left to run on the warranty & so want to stick with something "official".
Is £1675+VAT the universal price from all dealers, or do some do it cheaper? One dealer quoted an additional £250 becuase it needed to be transported to Prodrive?!
How good is the PPP on a MY 5-dr?
Thanks,
Jon

how much!
A TEK2 from John Banks (see scoobyshop) or Power Engineering is far superior. Your warranty will have expired by now anyway. About £500 ish with your ECU in exchange.
I now have to back off on some corners

Just noticed the warrant bit. There is no way they will know its been re-mapped with the TEK2, its just a remap of the original. Even if they plug in the diagnostic select monitor, it comes up with the original ECU name (ie AE800 / 801)
Go for it.

Jon,
You need to hunt around the dealers to see which ones can give you the best price, a tek2 is a good option but what you really need to do is replace the original exhaust as its very restrictive and by the time you have had your car mapped etc and had a decent exhaust put on then your looking at around 1k anyway.....
As your car is still in warranty i would go the PPP way, its not a bad package and is safe on your car (i have one fitted ) and it does increase the value of your car (which no other performance enhancing pack does ).
Its a good way to go though, if you get really bored with it then you can add a performance downpipe with gives you even better low down torque (you can get catted performance downpipes which are free flowing).

I paid £1500 + VAT for PPP. Good option if you must keep the warranty, it adds 10% power.
If you want more power (approx 35% over standard) and will sacrifice the warranty here is a sample of what the UK aftermarket can do for you:
Stainless Decat system second hand (Scoobynet For Sale section) £300
ECU (various suppliers) £650+
FE TD05 turbo (Lateral Performance) £650 inc
Knocklink (BRDevelopments) £140 inc
Fuel pump (Power Engineering) £105 inc
Total about £2000 if you included some labour to fit the bits.

Tony, still pushing the 'it'll increase the value bit' I do hope Subaru Dealers are listening to that They certainly didn't offer over a grand extra when I asked for trade-in's. Although, they'd certainly make the effort when it's on their forecourt.
Get it if you have an existing warranty. After Adair69's problems, I wouldn't want to risk things - do you have a large pot of gold to fight any legal battles.
Performance wise, I was pretty dissappointed, but what do you exepect from a simple BB, centre de-cat and a couple extra psi of boost
