Electronic speedo convert to mph...help!

The SVA has failed my STI 4 RA Limited cause the speedo reads about 10-15 mph too slow. I've soldered a chip converter behind the head, admitedly it was a cheaper end of the market converter so could this be my problem.
Please help as I want to use the car!

is your car a 97 or 98 because the pre 97 one is better with a mechanical one that plugs int the rear of the clocks cheers chris

Its a 98 hence electric speedo, I've got another chip now which seems better so fingers crossed!
