Question

A question to end a saga. Is there any way of identifying an oxygen sensor so as to tell if it is for a UK car or an import?
Is there a difference anyway or are they the same?
If there is a difference, what would be the effect of using the wrong one?

I know, it's three questions.

Thanks

Brian

The original has three wires and the replacement has three wires.
Is this significant?
Thanks

Is the plug the same? Even if it is not, 3 wire lambda sensors are generic parts.

I have just fitted a UK sensor to my Jap wrx..
Well, about a month ago....
Only problem i had was that the official uk subaru part (lead) is ONLY just long enough to reach the plug.
However, concidering a Jap replacement is £220+ and a UK sensor is £120 (subaru part), i can deal with not paying £100 for a bit of extra wire
Works fine btw
Rob

Edited to say: i fitted a universal sensor which only lasted a month before it failed, other people have used these universal sensors with no problems though...

Thanks for all the info. Local auto-electrician managed to source a model specific sensor for £65+ vat and all is now well.
