you would need to change your box and diff, I have a uk spec box in my RA and it hits that easy. Personally I would have prefered the proper RA box but it was changed before I got the car. Lets face it you wont keep your license long at those speeds

Cool

OR you could take the more sensible approach and find someone who can change the fifth gear ratio for you. If you decide to change the box, dont bother going to a uk one, get a later STI one, you get ~20mph/1000rpm in fifth and fun ratios on 1st to 4th. You could keep your 4.444 rear diff too.

Thumbs up

Hopefully the scooby should be back on the road for the new year and so i will hopefully be able to make it over there, thanks for the invite.

Doing a few mods to it at the moment ... including sourcing and fitting a weld in roll cage ... so the dash is out at currently.

Hope to see you soon.

Just sell the Type RA and get a Uk spec. car!! Seems a lot easier than changing gear boxes and diff's!.......if you did this I bet you'll miss the acceleration.

John Felstead changed the 5th gear ratio in his STi5 Type R/A.
Last time we spoke, if i remember correctly, he was considering changing it back again as it was giving too much of a gap between 4th and 5th for trackdays ~ And the ratios for the early type r/a's are even shorter than the late ones like JFs!
Maybe mail him and find out?

hope this helps,
simon
