Question

Any one know of the powerloss in a typical scooby bewteen the flywheel and the driving wheels.

There was a local article about a Nissan Silva, that had 186kw at the flywheel, but had 146kw at the wheels, ie 20% powerloss.

Anyone know of the figures for a scooby ??

depends on the dyno anywhere from 26% ot 36% and even higher numbers if it's an auto.

all depends on the dyno. Huge losses from tyres on rollers, so for instance using a dyna-pack on the hubs only will give you different results. Some dynos just add on x% to give flywheel figures, which is bollox. 2wd vs 4wd, high vs low tyres pressures, 3rd gear vs 4th, high vs low ratios, all very suspect.

Take it all with a pinch of salt, best thing is compare against standard car on the same dyno, or your own car pre-mods.

Question

Just took my scooby on the rollers (Dyno Dynamics ?)and was mildly disappointed at the low power. Run was done in 4th, and car is not yet modded. I left the graphs at work. I guess I could work back from the stated power of 280bhp. IIRC I think power at wheels was 136kW (~181bhp), which implies a powerloss of 35%.

I guess not so unreasonable then, 35% ??
