Anyone know what boost an early wrx wagon with a TD04 should run as standard. Boost come is quick but the gauge is reading .5 bar tops and dropping to about -.9bar when idle. Does this sound right? I reckon max boost should be a little higher?

Should be more than that I'd have thought.

Your car should have the TD05 shouldn't it?

Standard these turbos should push roughly 11-12psi (0.75-0.8 bar ish) especially if old.

When I got mine it was only hitting 9psi (0.62 bar) and I didn't realise til I got a boost gauge. Turns out the wastegate control solenoid was cacked up to the max.

Try taking all your boost pipes off and replacing them and then blasting the solenoid through with carb or brake cleaner.

Cheers

Rich

Marty,

My 94 WRX Wagon, peaks at 14 psi then holds the boost at about 11-12, reckon yours shuold be about the same.
