Question

Hi

We're having huge problems with heat soak here in sunny South Africa... Especially in traffic, the inlet air temperature just rockets (and using the IC spray has no effect - verified using deltadash - if the car is not moving).

Obviously one of the main culprits is the fact that the IC is mounted on top of the engine...and almost right over the turbo...

I want to isolate the IC from the engine/turbo, without negatively influencing air-flow through/over it (when car is moving). Was thinking of mounting something resembling an upside down bonnet scoop between engine and IC (with opening towards the rear).

Any ideas? Any custom made heatshields available? Anyone fitted a fan between engine and IC to get rid of warm air? Anyone know why the IC has fins on the bottom too?

I don't have the money to fit a FMIC.

Car in question is STi7, but I think this is applicable to all scoobies.

Thanks in advance
Bruce
