Im currently using Optimax on my scoob but have found that over a short period of time ie 1-2 weeks the car runs rougher. Once its filled up again it runs ok. I did find out that Optimax is ACTUALLY 95RON + additives. It is actually quite naughty of Shell to sell 95RON at 97RON prices. Anyway, whatever the RON rating may be on Optimax it still allowed Bob RAwle a few degrees more advance over Super Unleaded, so whatever the additives are, they are doing their job quite well.

Been using Shell Optimax in two V twin bikes and experienced instant smoother running especially from cold. Same results as soon as it went into the Scoob. No noticeable performance improvements other than that I'm afraid. Quite a bit more expensive than Regular if you do lots of miles.

Rocketman,
I found out about Optimax and the additives from a very reliable and well respected source who posts on Scoobynet. I think this is the reason why Shell dont advertise the RON rating on the pumps AND why the only approximate on their website of Optimax being over 98 ron. The best thng to do is to put a bit of Optimax at a time and dont leave it in the tank for too long as it degrades. Im not slagging the stuff because when my LINK ecu was being mapped, it managed more advance than SUL.

I had been using Optimax as a "cheap" SUL alternative, especially as it's allegedly 98.1 RON.
However, I recently had to fill up with Esso SUL (97 RON) and have noticed that the car is pulling much more strongly; better torque lower down, less hesitation, runs better when cold, and seems to accelerate all the way to 7000.
I'm sticking with the Esso, especially as it's only 77.9 against 74.9 for NUL.
