Your spool up time will occur higher up the rev range, but it will keep on pulling *much* better than the td04. Running the same boost you'll get power benefits from a cooler charge - all in all, a good mod.

Only downside to the vf23 is it's lack of serviceability - there's no bearing kits available for it, for example.

However you'll either need the ecu remapped, or fit a manual boost controller. Without it, your boost will be 'all over the shop'

If you go the MBC route then you need/should have at least in-car knock and fuel ratio monitoring just in case (you ecu will no longer be able to control boost if something goes pear-shaped).

My car has a VJ23 fitted as standard, it boost from 2500 - 3000 Rpm, gives full boost from just over 3500 Rpm, so should be slightly lower on yours (my engine is 1800cc). It will hold well over 1.5 bar all the way to the redline, no problems, and I've seen over 400BHP on cars with VJ23.

I think it's a great turbo, I can drive the car totally off boost when cruising, and when I want to go fast, it pulls hard from 3500 Rpm upwards. Best of both worlds IMO. HTH

Thumbs up

You will notice quite a bit.

I had simular mods to you, it will be a little more laggy but its worth it.

£650 is a good price as well i paid around £750 and left it on my old car after 3000 miles (DOH)

Go for it you can always sell it on.
