Question

I really ought to get around to sorting this out. My 1998 Forester T/tb (import) has a very nice Kenwood radio/cd/cassette system fitted but it is a Japanese market model and in order to find UK radio stations, whatever the wave length is on the unit I have to subtract 18 to get the UK wavelength. Is it possible to have the unit "fixed" so that the shown figures match the UK ones?
The other problem is that the unit only covers a narrow spread of stations and some UK ones are off the scale. Can anything be done about this?
My wife wants it sorting!!!

Thumbs down

The frequencies over there are different.. there is a mod that switches the frequencies but the display is then about 18 out which is what you describe so perhaps yours has already been modified.. otherwise I believe you would get nothing on the radio.

Standard range is what 85 to 105 IIRC.. so if you are getting similar with 18 added etc then it is modified already..

I think that makes sense...

If you *really* want to keep the stereo, buy yourself a good collection of tapes and CDs, or try listening to just one radio station .

My WRX still has the original Jap equipment with the frequency 'expander' fitted, but the display is useless - when you tune up, you are actually tuning down!
I don't tend to bother re-tuning - if I'm going on a longish journey, I just make sure there are a few tapes/cds lying around inside the car.
