Question

Can any electronics geniuses help me with a problem? I have just fitted this unit to my 96WRX after having problems with which terminal at the back of the clocks to use for the speedo pulse. Nito (Nitosport) advised me to use the SP terminal but because my car has a mechanical speedo it didn't have one! eventually I determined that the speedo still generates a signal which can be taken from the RSW terminal! great I thought! but once out on the road it became obvious that the dislay was seriously undereading! after thinking about this I came to the conclusion that maybe it was because of the "in line" mechanical speedo converter thats required to change the speedo from KPH to MPH.Has anybody got any idea how to get around this?

Cheers,
Len.

Mines a long way out! with pulse set to 4 defi reads 19mph (actual speed 30mph),with pulse set to 2 defi reads 38mph.where have you taken speedo signal from? is your car an import with mechanical drive and an in line speedo drive convertor? Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks Care3, a few years ago you could buy in line "Pulse Generator" for cars with a mechanical speedo drive so that an electronic speedo could be used,if I could find one and fit it before the converter I could take the signal ( which would be in KPH but correct ) directly into the Defi Unit which would covert it in MPH. Just got to find one!

Mine is an MY00 Euro import (Belgium). The seller did a search and found some installation instructions on SN from Nito to Plantie.

All i did was take out the clocks and tap into the connector on the back on the far right when looking from the front. I think it was orange/white for the revs and blue/green (or blue/yellow, I know i got it wrong the first time round!) for MPH. Positive went onto a green I think and Ground was on a black.

Hope this helps.

If you are still getting problems try phoning Nito at NitoSport.

Nezz,

I have been in constant contact with Nito but as yet he can offer no solution other than the one I have suggested.

Len.

Care3,

Thanks I will read the mail when I get home, still at work at the moment!
