Started to do some work on the car tonight to resolve some boost issues... Leant across engine to get to something and put a tiny amount of pressure on one of the top hoses...

result pipe snaps off and sprays my arm with seriously hot water...

Now in lots of pain and never been burnt so bad... No t-shirts for a while

be carefull with phase 1 header tanks.

Yep, best not to touch them at all, unless absolutely necessary. They are very fragile, and usually break when you least want them to.
Hope it didnt burn too bad
Forge do Alu ones for about £155, or u cud make one youself...

Sorry to hear that David..

Apparently the later header tanks are stronger and can be modified to fit.. only read that on here mind...

Hope the arm stops hurting asap.

Hope its not too bad. I've heard of so many of these bloody things just snapping off.... especially the outlet that goes to the turbo. The Forge one is very nice, Spec-R one looks good too... just a bit pricing for what is basically an aluminium box tho .

My first one snapped where the pipe comes out and goes to turbo, then when i was refitting the next one the small pipe on the rad snapped off
Ended up going through 3 header tanks as they split on the seam... 4th time decided to get a brand new one from subaru and get a 12 month guarantee for it...
However, when you gonna fabricate some ally ones david

Yeah, I am on my third tank too: first one blew open at the seams (steam from bonnet vents at traffic lights ) and the second one the turbo hose came away.

These little g1ts get very fragile after a few months.

I too now have a brand new one from Subaru with a 12 month warranty.
