A slight onset of overboost perhaps?
I'd have a go at the wastegate solenoid with a can of brake cleaner first (they do have a tendency to get sticky with gunk of all sorts).
Have you changed exhaust system by any chance?
A bit of play with restrictors, and adjustment of the wastegate actuator will sort it if the cleaning session doesn't...have a word with the zenmaster of restrictors (John Banks) - he'll know what to do.

As J except zenmaster bit.
If the brake cleaner doesn't work buy/borrow a cheap boost gauge or get a run on someone's Delta Dash and see what the boost is doing.
Have you got any modifications on the car?
Decat and cold weather are enough to make some overboost like this.

The fact that you've opened up the breathing won't make the problem any better actually....it'll most likely multiply it by a factor of 10 or so.
Really, have a word with John Banks here and he'll help you out with a proper restrictor/actuator setup.
After all it's a matter of getting the balance right with flow restriction, and adjustment of the actuator.
I doubt most scooby garages would know what to do with it...

The best way IMHO to sort it accurately (bar remapping the ECU ) is to fit a restrictor valve to replace the original restrictor. There is a very long thread on this by me somewhere in Drivetrain with all the nauseating details
